Energy Efficiency Strategies

The project aims to eliminate wasteful spending—of energy, resources, and dollars. The total building energy usage will be 25% less than the energy consumed by a "standard reference design building," as defined in the Seattle Energy Code.

Energy Efficiency Features

  • Glass, The incorporation of dynamic self-tinting glass significantly reduces solar heat gain and glare, while maintaining natural daylight and views toward Lake Union and downtown Seattle.
  • Lighting, The office spaces will use about 40% less artificial lighting than a typical building, while meeting the needs of the modern workplace.
  • Exterior Stairs, We encourage occupant behavior that promotes energy efficiency. The exterior stairs, with special materials and lighting, promotes using the stairs instead of energy intensive elevators.
  • Operable Windows, The addition of operable windows reduces reliance on the HVAC system for temperature control.
